The VIS Quick-disconnect (QD) sling socket is an advanced sling mounting option that offers several advantages over competing products. Its compact design allows for secure installation of a sling anchor point in any location with at least half an M-LOK slot. Unlike traditional sockets that require two #8 screws and more mounting space, the VIS uses a single #10 fastener. Concerned about strength? The 10-24 alloy fastener has a tensile strength (failure point) of 2,540 lbs. and can withstand a shear load of 2,700 lbs.
Consider this: Many QD sockets on the market are made from aluminum, which can lead to durability issues. The hardened steel bearings of the QD plunger can wear down aluminum slots over time, potentially causing the connection to fail. In contrast, the VIS socket is precision-machined from 4340 high-strength steel, ensuring long-lasting reliability without the worry of connection failures.

It’s as sturdy as a folding brace can be. Was rock solid before the first outing, however there’s now the slightest bit of play in the hinge when open now. Acceptable, however, and I’d probably still buy it again.
